Inch threads, especially UNC (Unified National Coarse) and UNF (Unified National Fine), are standardised threads used mainly in industry, especially in the United States and Canada. They differ from metric threads in that the dimensions are given in inches rather than millimetres. On this page you will find a detailed table of UNC and UNF inch threads, together with data on thread pitch, outside diameter and other relevant technical parameters.
What are UNC/UNF threads?
UNC (Unified National Coarse) inch threads are coarse threads used in applications where greater wear resistance and ease of installation are desired. UNF (Unified National Fine) are fine threads that provide greater precision and better fastening with smaller thread sizes.
Main differences:
UNC: Smaller thread pitch, thicker coils, more robust in applications requiring greater strength.
UNF: Larger thread pitch, thinner coils, better precision, used in applications requiring more accurate connections.
