ATEX valves for mining - diverter valves and solenoid valves
We manufacture diverter valves and solenoid valves in explosion-proof ATEX design for operation in underground mines and surface installations exposed to methane or coal dust explosion hazards. Mechanical, pneumatic and electromagnetic control, available in a full range of functions and connection threads.
ATEX valves - what are they used for?
Diverter valves direct the flow of compressed air to pneumatic actuators and other working elements, determining the direction and sequence of movement. In mining applications, they must also meet the requirements of the ATEX Directive because they operate in zones where an explosive atmosphere may occur.
All our mining valves are certified under the ATEX quality system by the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology and are classified as Group I equipment. Certification details are described on the page about pneumatics for the mining industry.

Materials and nominal flow are the same as in the DTMG series: brass body, anodised aluminium spool, PU/VITON seals.
ATEG - ATEX solenoid valves, Category M1
G1/2-G1 electromagnetically controlled diverter valves classified in the highest safety category, M1. This means they may continue operating in the presence of an explosive atmosphere. They are available as single valves and as valve island assemblies.
- Functions: 3/2, 5/2, 3/3, 5/3, including spring return versions,
- supply voltage: 12 VDC ±15%, coil resistance approx. 110 Ω, continuous operation,
- pressure range: 0.2-0.9 MPa for 3/2 and 5/2, 0.3-0.9 MPa for spring return versions and 3/3, 5/3 valves,
- brass body, anodised aluminium spool, PU seals,
- valve islands for mounting multiple valves, with G1/2, G3/4 and G1 ports.
PZRG - auxiliary diverter valves
G1/8 auxiliary mechanically controlled valves for control panels and local control stations. A wide range of control elements is available:
- palm push-button and locking palm push-button,
- rotary push-button and key control,
- covered or protruding push-button, plunger operation,
- two-way lever with roller.
Available functions include 2/2, 3/2 and 5/2, normally open and normally closed versions. Brass body, stainless steel spool, PU seals. Due to classification as Group I, Category M2 equipment, only original manufacturer parts should be used.

FAQ - ATEX valves
What is the difference between the DTMG, DTPG and ATEG series?
DTMG valves are mechanically controlled, DTPG valves are pneumatically controlled, and ATEG valves are electromagnetically controlled. DTMG and DTPG valves are classified as Category M2, while ATEG solenoid valves are classified in the higher Category M1.
What do Category M1 and M2 mean?
These are ATEX classifications for Group I equipment used in mining. M2 equipment is de-energised when an explosive atmosphere occurs. M1 equipment may continue operating in its presence, providing a higher level of safety.
What voltage do ATEG solenoid valves use?
ATEG solenoid valves are supplied with 12 VDC ±15%, with coil resistance of approx. 110 Ω and continuous operation. They are available as single valves and as valve island assemblies.
Are the valves available in plate-mounted versions?
Yes. DTMG and DTPG valves are available in pipe-mounted and plate-mounted versions with an attachment plate, while ATEG solenoid valves are also available in valve island assemblies.
Can I order a special valve or custom component?
Yes. We manufacture special components, including spools and guide sleeves according to customer samples. Please send a drawing or sample for quotation.
Do you have an ATEX certificate?
Yes. The valves are certified by the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology, Notified Body No. 1456, in accordance with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU. The company operates under the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.
