Pneumatic Tube and Pipe Fittings Selector

The selector supports the preliminary selection of pneumatic fittings for flexible tubing, hoses and rigid tube or pipe. It considers the connection technology, tube size, thread, material, working medium, operating pressure and temperature. The results link to specific CPP PREMA product codes rather than general store categories only.

The tool provides an engineering pre-selection of products from the tube and pipe fittings range. Before ordering, verify the selected product code, thread sealing method and permissible operating conditions of the complete connection.

How to read the result: pressure, temperature and medium are checked against the published family-level catalogue data. A specific product code is matched using the fields published on its product page: series, configuration, material, thread type and size, and A/B diameters. Where a product page has no technical-data panel, only the information published in its name and category is used. Missing parameters are never inferred.
Pre-order engineering checklist
  • Confirm whether the stated size refers to tube O.D., hose I.D. or an O.D. × I.D. pair.
  • Check the tube's actual pressure rating after temperature derating.
  • Verify the thread standard, gender and sealing method.
  • Compare the smallest flow bore with the system flow requirement.
  • Confirm body and seal compatibility with the working medium.
  • Allow for vibration, bend radius, tube loads and service access.

How do you select a pneumatic fitting?

Start by identifying the tube or hose material and the dimension used by the fitting. Push-in fittings are normally selected by tube outside diameter. Compression fittings may require both the outside and inside diameters, while hose-tail fittings are primarily matched to the hose inside diameter.

  • Tube O.D. – tube outside diameter.
  • Tube I.D. – tube or hose inside diameter.
  • G thread – parallel pipe thread.
  • R thread – tapered male pipe thread.
  • M thread – metric thread; the thread pitch must also be confirmed.

The required fitting configuration must then be selected: straight fitting, 90° elbow, tee, cross, reducer, bulkhead union or swivel banjo elbow. For reducers and branch fittings, the selector accepts separate A and B connection sizes.

Push-in, compression or hose-tail fitting?

Pneumatic push-in fittings allow rapid tube installation without a compression nut. Their selection is based primarily on the tube O.D. and tube material.

Pneumatic compression fittings provide positive mechanical tube retention. An O.D. × I.D. dimension may be required because tubes with the same outside diameter can have different wall thicknesses.

Series 10000 universal brass compression fittings are intended for specified Cu tube and PE or PA tubing. Selection must account for the tube diameter, wall thickness and any required assembly components, including compression rings or reinforcing sleeves.

Flexible hoses can be connected using PVC hose fittings or self-grip connectors for PU, PE and PA tubing. The permissible pressure of a hose connection depends on the hose, fitting and retention method.

What does the pneumatic fittings selector check?

The selector database contains 893 product codes. Published technical fields are available for 841 product pages. The matching process checks the series, fitting configuration, body material, thread gender and size, and the A and B connection diameters.

Where a product page has no technical-data panel, only the information published in the product name and category is used. Missing parameters are not inferred. Some results may therefore require additional engineering confirmation.

What determines the maximum connection pressure?

The system pressure limit is not determined by the fitting alone. The component with the lowest permissible rating governs the complete connection. This may be the tube, hose, fitting, seal or another system component. Tube pressure derating at elevated temperature must also be taken into account.

Frequently asked questions

Are push-in fittings selected by tube outside diameter?

Yes. The principal mounting dimension for a push-in fitting is normally the tube O.D. Tube material, thread and operating conditions must also be checked.

Are G1/4 and R1/4 threads identical?

No. G identifies a parallel pipe thread, while R identifies a tapered male pipe thread. Their geometry and sealing arrangements are different.

Can a fitting be selected from the tube diameter alone?

Not in every case. The connection arrangement, thread, working medium, temperature, pressure, body material and tube material must also be considered.

Is the selector result a final approval of the application?

The tool provides an engineering pre-selection based on published data. The specific product page and the requirements of the complete system must be verified before ordering.

After completing the selection, the user can open the matching product page directly. Registered customers may have access to individual pricing terms displayed after signing in to the store.
